The study findings suggest that the use of personalized math problems has a positive effect on the academic success of students. The participants of this study were the sixth graders from two classrooms at a public secondary school in Başakşehir district of Istanbul. An interview technique which was structured with qualitative data collection techniques were used to obtain the perceptions/views of the students with the intention of supporting the quantitative findings. A mixed research design was employed consisting of the pre-‐test and post-‐test, the control group and the qualitative data. This study was conducted to determine the effect of the use of personalized math problems on students' success. In this context, personalization of exam/course teaching questions, which can be seen as the personalization of the teaching content, can be given as an example to personalized instruction. Personalized instruction is a method which takes into consideration individual characteristics, interests, and needs of students and organizes the learning environment accordingly.
